Terms of Service

The short version: Angler's Intel Net gives you information to help you find and read fishing regulations faster. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for checking the current rule yourself with the state, federal, or tribal agency that governs the water you're fishing. You are solely responsible for complying with the law. We are not liable for citations, fines, license actions, gear or catch seizure, or any other consequence of relying on a reading from this app.

Angler's Intel Net ("the Service") aggregates and summarizes recreational fishing regulations — size limits, bag limits, seasons, gear and permit requirements, and open/closed status — for informational purposes. Every reading is tagged with a confidence level and, where available, a citation to the source regulation. A reading of Unknown means we do not have a source we trust enough to answer, and is not itself evidence that harvest is legal or illegal.

Nothing in the Service constitutes legal advice, and using it does not create an attorney-client or advisory relationship of any kind. Regulations are researched by automated and human processes described in our public documentation; a reading marked as pending sign-off has been researched but not yet verified by a person against the cited source. Even a fully verified reading can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date the moment a regulator changes a rule. Treat every reading as a starting point for your own research, never as a final answer.

Before you fish, target a species, or keep a catch, you agree to confirm the current rule directly with the governing agency shown in the reading (state wildlife/fisheries agency, NOAA Fisheries, a tribal authority, or other body of record) — by checking that agency's official publication, calling them, or using their own licensing app or hotline. Regulations change in-season, sometimes with no advance notice (emergency closures, addenda, court orders). You are responsible for fishing lawfully regardless of what this app displays.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that a reading reflects the regulation currently in force, that our sources are error-free, or that the Service will be available uninterrupted.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Angler's Intel Net, its operators, employees, and contributors are not liable for any citation, fine, civil or criminal penalty, license suspension or revocation, gear or catch seizure, or any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your reliance on the Service or your use of it while fishing. This limitation applies whether the claim is based on warranty, contract, tort, negligence, or any other legal theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some features (catch logging, waypoints, conditions and timing, photo identification) require an account and may require a paid plan. Creating an account requires a home state/region and a date of birth (we reject signups under 13 — see our Privacy Policy). Choosing a paid plan additionally requires a verified email address; we send a verification link when you sign up, and you can request a new one from your Account page at any time. The Angler plan is available billed monthly or billed annually (a discounted effective monthly rate, charged once a year); pricing for both is shown on the Plans page and is subject to change with notice, with the new price taking effect at your next renewal, not mid-period. The free legality reading is never gated behind a paid plan or email verification. This build is a prototype: accounts, plan selection, and payment are not connected to real billing. What we collect with an account, how it's shared, and how to have it deleted is covered in full in our Privacy Policy, not repeated here.

No refunds. Whether you're on the monthly or annual Angler plan, payments are non-refundable once a billing period has started, including the unused portion of a period you cancel partway through — except where the law requires a refund. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not reimburse the period you already paid for.

Cancellation itself is one click from your Account page, no confirmation call or retention flow required. It takes effect at the end of your current billing period (the month you're in for monthly, or the year you're in for annual) — you keep full Angler access through that date, then your account drops to the free Deckhand tier automatically. Right now, this build doesn't process real payment, so choosing a plan — including downgrading from Angler back to Deckhand — is instant and free rather than end-of-period; the policy above describes how it will work once real billing is connected.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, if we reasonably believe you've violated these Terms (including the Prohibited Use section below), engaged in fraud or abuse, or if required by law — we'll try to notify you first where practical. Termination doesn't automatically delete your data; it's handled per our Privacy Policy's retention section, and you can still request deletion afterward.

We may add, change, limit, or remove any feature of the Service at any time — including a feature you currently pay for — and may change plan pricing with notice (see "Accounts and plans" above). We may also suspend or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, temporarily or permanently, without liability to you, though we'll try to give reasonable notice for anything material. Nothing in the Service is guaranteed to remain available in its current form.

The Angler's Intel Net name, logo, design, and software are ours (or used under license) — using the Service gives you a limited, revocable license to use it for its intended purpose, not any ownership in it. The underlying fishing regulations themselves are public government information and aren't owned by anyone; what is ours is the way we've organized, verified, and presented them — the citations, confidence ratings, and sign-off process.

Anything you create — a logged catch, a photo, a waypoint, a note — stays yours. By using the Service, you grant us a license to store, process, and display it as needed to run the Service and according to the visibility (Private/Community/Public) you choose for it, per our Privacy Policy. We don't use your photos or catch data for advertising or any purpose beyond running the Service.

Don't use the Service to misrepresent your compliance with fishing law to a third party (e.g., as proof of legality to an enforcement officer), to scrape or resell our regulation data at scale without permission, or to interfere with the Service's operation.

We may update these Terms as the Service changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
